Baseball inks eight signees to 2022-23 team

RENO, Nev. – Nevada baseball has inked eight signees to its 2022-23 team, head coach TJ Bruce announced Thursday.

Tyson Heinz, Jeffrey Bauser, Alessandro Castro, Colin Spear, Kyle Becker, Jameson Ferraro, Jake Harvey and Logan Pruski have all signed national letters of intent to join the Pack in fall 2022.

Tyson Heinz

Orem, Utah | Lane CC | Timpanogos HS

Heinz heads to Nevada from Lane CC and Timpanogos HS. During his freshman campaign at Lane, Heinz hit .327 and tallied a 0.00 ERA. As a senior at Timpanogos HS, Heinz hit .438 with a 0.76 ERA. Heinz earned first-team all-state, first-team all-region and South Region Top Performer honors. Heinz also starred on the track in high school, winning the 200m state championship as a senior.

Jeffrey Bauser

Roseville, Calif. | Folsom Lake College | Woodcreek HS

Bauser joins Nevada from Woodcreek HS in Roseville, Calif. Bauser brings first-team all-conference honors to the Pack. Notably, Bauser hit .364 as a freshman at Folsom Lake College.

Alessandro Castro

Tucson, Ariz. | Pusch Ridge Christian Academy

Castro joins Nevada from Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in Tucson, Ariz. The 2021 AIA 3A Conference Player of the Year and 2021 AIA 3A South Region Player of the Year, Castro hit .522 with a .910 slugging percentage as a junior. In addition, he also recorded a 0.67 ERA with 81 strikeouts last season. Castro has also earned academic honor roll accolades from 2018-21.

Colin Spear

San Francisco, Calif. | Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep

Spear joins Nevada after registering a .387 batting average at Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep in San Francisco under head coach Brian Morgan. In addition to Sacred Heart, Spear played club with CCB under coach Erick Raich.

Kyle Becker

San Diego, Calif. | Del Norte HS

Becker, who was named to the 2021 All-CIF Baseball Second-Team and earned the Beritbard Certificate of Athletic Achievement, hit .423 with five home runs while recording a 1.46 ERA as a junior. Becker has been a member of the Del Norte HS varsity team since his freshman year.

Jameson Ferraro

Arcadia, Calif. | Crescenta Valley HS

Ferraro joins Nevada from Crescenta Valley HS in Arcadia, Calif. Recording a 1.32 ERA in 52.2 innings while striking out 72 hitters, Ferraro earned first-team all-region honors and was named to the all-region players list by Perfect Game.

Jake Harvey

Roseville, Calif. | Woodcreek HS

Harvey comes from Roseville, Calif., with the following accolades: Capital Valley All-Conference Team, 2021 Sacramento Bee All-Metro Utility Player Award, 2021 Woodcreek Baseball Coach’s Award, 2021 Perfect Game Top Prospect List, 2021 Perfect Game Underclassmen All-American Team. As a junior, Harvey tabbed a .474 batting average with 34 RBI and 40 runs. Harvey helped his high school team to a 22-4 overall record and Capital Valley League championship.

Logan Pruski

Reno, Nev. | Bishop Manogue HS

A Reno, Nev. native, Pruski stars at Bishop Manogue HS, hitting .400 with a .743 slugging percentage while compiling 18 RBI, nine doubles and three home runs in 14 games as a junior. Additionally, Pruski registered first-team all-league honors.
