Timo Werner trains with Chelsea
Dortmund are in danger of losing their main striker Erling Haaland after the 2021/22 campaign ends. The Norwegian striker’s release clause next summer is only £ 68 million, so a series of big men have rushed to fight, fighting for Haaland’s signature. Former star RB Salzburg is also expected to look for a bigger destination to develop to its full potential.
For that reason, the Signal Iduna Park home team needs an alternative. In recent days, the media has reported that Dortmund has put Timo Werner in the sights. Since joining Chelsea in the summer of 2020 for £ 45 million, the German star has been full of disappointment when he proved ungainly in front of the opponent’s goal.
Werner is not currently Thomas Tuchel’s priority in attack. The 25-year-old star has only had 6 starts in the Premier League this season, contributing only 1 goal and 1 assist. However, Dortmund is still confident that it will help the former RB Leipzig striker regain his inherent scoring instinct.
Teamtalk, citing sources from the Daily Express, said Werner will have a conversation with coach Tuchel to discuss the striker’s future. The German striker is ready to stick with the Blues, as long as he is guaranteed a regular starting position in the squad.
