Pack suffers another loss at the wire

DAVIS, Calif. – The first victory of the 2021 campaign eluded Nevada in once more Thursday, as the Pack fell, 4-3, at UC Davis.

Nevada (0-2) pulled to within a point at 3-2 with two singles matches remaining, but UC Davis’ Ivan Thamma prevailed over Isaac Nortey, 7-6, 6-4, at the No. 1 spot to clinch the dual for the Aggies.

Delmas N’Tcha picked up his second singles victory of the season for the Pack, defeating David Goulak in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2 singles. Daniel Dudockin (No. 4 singles) picked up a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win and Loris Zisswiller was victorious at the No. 6 spot, 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 over Brett Brinkman.

UC Davis (1-4) claimed the doubles point with Arjith Jayaraman and Dariush Jalali’s 6-3 win over Matheo Coupu and Benjamin Campi at the No. 3 spot, breaking the 1-1 deadlock.

Nevada closes the weekend trip with a doubleheader Saturday, facing host Fresno State at 9 a.m. and Azusa Pacific at noon as part of the Pacific Central Valley Championship.
